A motorist was critically injured Tuesday night after he lost control of his car and plummeted off an expressway onto Charoen Rat Road in Bangkok, injuring an Indian national on a motorcycle.

Traffic police were called to the scene in Sathon district at 8.52pm.

An electric vehicle (EV), a Changan Deepal SO7, was found upside down and severely damaged under Sirat Expressway in front of the White Jade Tai Hong Gong Shrine.

Rescuers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation had to extricate a male driver, who has not yet been identified. He reportedly sustained severe injuries.

Beside the fallen car was a motorbike tipped onto its right side. It was reportedly driven by a 68-year-old Indian man, who sustained critical injuries, including a broken wrist.

The two injured were transported to nearby hospitals.

Investigators spoke with witnesses and reviewed surveillance footage to establish a sequence of events and determine the cause of the accident.
