Driver more than four times over limit smashes into parked car

A driver more than four times over the legal limit was caught by police after smashing into a parked car.

The driver of the silver Vauxhall Corsa made off from the scene but police later tracked the car, and its driver, down.

When tested, police found the driver to be four times over the legal limit of alcohol consumption.

Police revealed the driver blew a "shocking" 144 at the roadside.

He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

Merseyside Police Roads Policing Unit took to Twitter to share the news the driver was off the road.

They tweeted: "The driver of this Corsa hit a parked car causing significant damage before driving away. Luckily we caught up with him and he blew a shocking 144 (more than 4 times the legal limit) at the roadside and was arrested on suspicion of drink-drive."

People were also quick to reply to the tweet.

Nicola replied, shocked they were still able to stand. The tweet said: "How are they still standing?"

Another person wanted justice for the crime. Fabiano replied: "Throw the book at them."
