Driver makes big mistake while being watched by unmarked garda car who chased motorist down

An unsuspecting driver made a big mistake after flouting the rules of the road in front of Gardai.

The reckless motorist was speeding along a road in Co. Kildare when they overtook another car.

On top of speeding the driver also overtook on a continuous white line- a massive mistake.

Unfortunately for them they didn't realise that they had just driven dangerously to overtake an unmarked Garda car.

The officer quickly chased down pulled over the driver who was then slapped with a fine.

An update posted on social media from Gardai said: "While on patrol in an unmarked patrol vehicle near Carbury, Gardaí attached to Naas RPU were overtaken on a continuous white line by a speeding vehicle.

"Car stopped by Gardai a short distance away and driver issued with FCPN."

Gardai continue to ramp up their presence on Irish roads as part of Operation Fanacht aimed at enforcing Covid-19 restrictions.

Recently officers busted a lockdown rule breaker at the weekend for breaking the 5km rule.

The motorist was one of a number of people fined in the Laois and Offaly area for breaching the travel limit.

This particular driver had travelled from Cork to Offaly to "visit a lover" - which they were told wasn't deemed an essential excuse.
