Driver loses part of arm in Hume Highway crash

A woman has lost part of her right arm in a single-vehicle crash on the Hume Highway near Yass.

The woman, 62, was driving north on the highway when her car left the road just north of Yass Valley Way and crashed near a median strip about 10.30am.

A NSW Fire and Rescue spokesman said the woman had her right arm partially amputated as a result of the crash.

The spokesman said the car was towing a trailer at the time of the incident.

The woman was trapped in the car for several minutes, before fire and rescue crews removed the roof and a side of the car to free the woman.

She was airlifted to Canberra Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

One northbound lane remains closed near Yass Valley Way.

NSW Police have appealed for anyone who may have dash-cam footage of the crash to contact Yass police or CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000.
