Driver leaves trail of destruction after ploughing into parked vehicles in Abercynon

A car has smashed into several parked vehicles on a road in Abercynon.

Video footage from the scene shows several cars that have been damaged in the incident that took place on Abercynon Road.

South Wales Fire & Rescue Service said officers were alerted to the incident by the police at around 7.34pm on Wednesday evening, and one appliance attended from Abercynon Fire Station.

Eyewitness James White said: "Nobody was hurt. The white Mercedes lost control and hit several parked cars with nobody in them."

South Wales Police confirmed officers are aware of the crash, and confirmed somebody has been arrested in relation to the incident. Inquiries are currently ongoing.

A spokeswoman for the force said: "Shortly before 7.35pm yesterday, August 11, Emergency services were called to a road traffic collision on Abercynon Road, Abercynon.

"The collision involved one car crashing into a number of parked cars, nobody was injured. A 26 year-old man, Thomas Davies, was arrested and has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He will appear in Merthyr Magistrates' Court this morning."
