A person was killed in a crash Saturday in north suburban Wadsworth.

A 2003 Pontiac Grand Am was speeding westbound on Wadsworth Road about 7 a.m. when it left the street near Delany Road, according to a statement from the Lake County sheriff’s office.

The Pontiac may have rolled before hitting the traffic light pole at the intersection and wrapping around the pole, the sheriff’s office said. The male driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

His identity has not yet been released. The Lake County coroner’s office scheduled an autopsy for Monday.

No one else was in the car and no other injuries were reported, the sheriff’s office said. The sheriff’s Technical Crash Investigations Unit is investigating.
