Driver killed in three-car crash on rural road

A man has died following an early-morning crash in mid-Wales.

The three-vehicle collision happened at around 8am on Tuesday morning on the A490 near Guilsfield in Powys.

Emergency services have been at the scene all day and the road remains closed in both directions, with motorists being advised to avoid the area if possible.

The male driver of one of the vehicles involved in the crash, who has not been named, died at the scene as a result of his injuries, police have confirmed, and his next of kin are being supported by specialist officers.

A spokeswoman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “We are investigating a three-vehicle road traffic collision which occurred at approximately 8am this morning, Tuesday 5th October, 2021, on the A490 near Guilsfield, Powys.

“Sadly, the male driver of one of the vehicles died at the scene.

“Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact Dyfed-Powys Police, either online, by emailing 101@dyfed-powys.pnn.police.uk, or by calling 101."
