Driver killed in A40 crash near Abergavenny

A driver has died following a serious single vehicle crash on the A40 near Abergavenny.

Gwent Police were called at 1.55 am Wednesday morning following reports of a collision on the A40 between Abergavenny and Glangrwyney, known locally as Brecon Road.

The driver of a black Range Rover Discovery was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers along with the Welsh Ambulance Service and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service attended.

Officers are requesting any motorists using the road between 1aqm and 1.55am to please check any dash cam footage that may provide further information that will assist officers with their enquiries.

Anyone with any information or anyone who may have witnessed the incident is urger to contact Gwent Police on 101.

The road has recently reopened but remains congested.

Gwent Police are advising motorists intending on using the road to travel to / from The Royal Welsh Show, to take the A4077 Gilwern junction or use the Heads of the Valley Road.
