Driver involved in fatal hit-and-run incident at Murray Bridge yet to be found by police

A woman has died after a hit-and-run incident at Murray Bridge overnight.

Emergency services were called to Old Princes Highway at 9:45pm on Thursday night after reports a woman had been hit by a car.

The 40-year-old from Murray Bridge died at the scene.

SA Police said the car did not stop following the crash.

Both the car and driver are yet to be located by police.

Major crash investigators attended the scene and the road was closed for several hours but reopened just before 3:30am on Friday morning.

The woman's death is the 58th lost on South Australian roads this year, compared to 79 at this time last year.
