Driver in traffic covered in cuts and glass after random man punches through window

A driver sat at traffic lights was left shaken after a stranger punched and smashed his window before running off.

Lee Worrall, 25, from Haydock was left with cuts and small pieces of glass in his arm following the shocking incident.

He was driving home from work in St Helens when he stopped at the traffic lights near St James' Church.

Lee told the ECHO : "I was on my way home waiting in the traffic by the lights waiting for the people in front of me to go.

"As I looked I saw something out the corner of my eye, the next minute the window just went straight through.

"I was shocked as I just saw there was glass everywhere.

"It was in the boot, it was in my pocket, it was in my shoes, it was down the back of my t-shirt."

Lee said the incident happened so fast that he couldn't get a good look at the man who did it other than he was wearing a yellow t-shirt.

He said: "I looked out my mirror and he was going away from me on foot. I pulled over and got out but there was nobody around.

"He must have either went into an house or down into one of the side streets.

"I don't know if he was frustrated or something and I was at the wrong place at the wrong time."

He added: "I literally couldn't move as I was covered in glass. I got out the car and it was like somebody had just dropped money all over the floor.

"Luckily as I heard it I shut my eyes. Today somebody dropped a glass at work and I was taken aback thinking it was happening again.
