Driver in their 70s run over by their own car

A man in his 70s escaped with only minor injuries after becoming trapped under his own car, say police.

The emergency services, including an air ambulance, rushed to Church Street in Horwich, Bolton, at about 3.30pm yesterday (Thursday).

They found a man trapped under his own vehicle.

Church Street and Chorley Old Road were closed while police, fire and ambulance crews dealt with the incident.

The roads were re-opened shortly before 8pm.

A spokesman for North West Ambulance Service confirmed the man was taken to hospital with a leg injury.

Witnesses described seeing an air ambulance land near the scene of the incident.

A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Police confirmed a car had collided with a pedestrian at around 3.30pm.

The casualty, said to be aged in their 70s, was suffered 'minor injuries', according to GMP.

The force confirmed no arrests have been made.
