Driver in serious condition after car crashed into traffic sign in Aberdare

A man is in hospital with serious injuries after his car crashed into a traffic sign in Aberdare.

South Wales Police were called to the scene of the crash on the A4059, between Meirion Street and McDonald's on the A4233, at approximately 11.50pm on Saturday.

The driver of the vehicle, a black Peugeot 107, was injured after the car collided with a traffic sign.

"He was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition," said a police spokeswoman.

"Officers would like to thank those who provided assistance and witness accounts at the scene."

Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The spokeswoman added: "We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision, or the manner in which the vehicle was being driven in the moments prior to it, and who has not yet spoken to police, to come forward."

They would also like to hear from anyone with any dashcam, mobile phone or CCTV footage which might assist the investigation.
