Driver in hot water as police carry out patrols in Edinburgh over weekend

A driver found themselves in hot water over the weekend after being pulled up by police carrying out patrols.

Officers from Police Scotland's Motorcycle Unit were dispatched to the west of the capital on Saturday to carry out checks.

One van stopped by police was found to have no insurance and the driver was reported to the procurator fiscal.

In a statement on Twitter Road Policing Scotland said: " #NationalMotorcycleUnit carrying out patrols in the west of Edinburgh.

"This van was stopped on the A8. The driver claimed his private car policy covered him third party to drive this van, however it was not the case in this instance.

"Driver reported to the PF for no insurance."

Earlier this month, officers stopped numerous vehicles on Regent Road as they cracked down on drivers.
