An air ambulance landed nearby but the casualty was taken to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham by road.

The 82-year-old driver is in a critical condition.

Police say his family has been informed.

Sergeant Iain Blackstock, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “The road remains closed and officers are now investigating the incident.

“I’d ask that drivers avoid the area until the road has been reopened.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 271 of 18 May 2021.”

A structural engineer has been called to make the building safe, the force added.
