Driver in hospital after car flips onto roof in Granton horror smash

A driver has been taken to hospital after their car flipped onto its roof in Granton.

The one vehicle crash took place this afternoon on Waterfront Park, leaving a car on its roof.

 Emergency services attended the crash which left the sporty white Mercedes upside down, reports the Record.

Onlookers said the vehicle hit a tree at speed before coming to rest upside down at about 4pm today.

It is understood the driver was removed from the car - that was left with it’s windows smashed and boot lying open - and rushed to hospital.

His condition is unknown at this time.

A police Scotland spokesman said: “Around 4.10pm on Sunday 4 October, officers were called to a report of a road crash involving one car on Waterfront Park, Edinburgh.  Officers are still at the scene and ambulance is in attendance.”
