A man was fatally struck by a car Tuesday in Albany Park on the Northwest Side.

A 48-year-old man was driving about 4:37 a.m. in the 4500 block of North Pulaski Road when he was confronted by two men, 18 and 32, Chicago police said.

The 32-year-old stepped out in front of the vehicle and pulled out a gun, causing the driver to “fear for his life” and accelerate, hitting the man, police said.

He was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

Autopsy results released Wednesday ruled his death an accident, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. His identity has not been released.

The 18-year-old was arrested and charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct and violating curfew, police said.
