The good intentions of a driver who tried to save a snake caused a road accident that injured him and two others.
The Muang police station in Buri Ram was told of the accident, which seriously injured three people on a road to Surin, on Thursday. One of them was Sorayuth Khemawuttinon, who was trapped in his damaged car, duty officer Pol Lt Col Adichat Meesarn said.
Ploynapas Kitnitiphokin, who drove behind Mr Sorayuth's vehicle, told police that he abruptly stopped to avoid crushing a snake he saw on the road.
Mr Sorayuth's car then lost control and hit a pickup truck in the opposite lane, she said.
Mrs Ploynapas said she had no choice but to run over the reptile. She said the snake might have been injured but not killed because when she got out of the vehicle, she could not see it.
Pol Lt Col Adichat said the truck driver and a passenger were sent to Krasang Hospital in Krasang district and Mr Sorayuth was at Buri Ram Hospital in Muang district.
