Pictures from the scene show the badly-damaged black car which had come to a rest against a wall and a tree on Union Road, near the junction for Kerse Road.

Paramedics attended and took the driver to hospital but they are understood to have escaped any serious injuries.

The road was closed in both directions for just under two hours to allow for the stricken motor to be removed.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a one car crash on Union Road at the junction with Kerse Road in Grangemouth around 8.35pm on Friday, 20 August, 2021.

“The driver was taken to hospital. The road was closed to allow for the vehicle to be recovered and re-opened around 10.20pm.”
