A truck driver was taken to hospital after a fully-laden B-double collided with the back of a rigid truck, causing it to flip on the M1 at Cooranbong.
The rigid truck was being driven northbound just after 10pm when the B-double hit the back of the rigid truck at 97km/h, police said.
The rigid truck lost control and flipped before landing upside down.
The 56-year-old driver of the rigid truck managed to free himself from the vehicle and was taken to John Hunter Hospital with facial injuries. The 24-year-old driver of the B-double was uninjured.
The rigid truck was carrying furniture, appliances and other household items which were splayed over the M1, blocking the road.
The northbound side of the freeway was closed for about an hour, and one lane was closed until 6am Saturday.
