Driver has lucky escape after car flips onto its side after crash on South Dublin road

A driver had a lucky escape after their car flipped onto its side after a horror crash on a South Dublin road.

Dublin Fire brigade rushed to the scene after a van crashed in Clondalkin before midday today.

The crash happened on the Boot Road and resulted in the road's temporary closure.

Dublin Fire Brigade tweeted: "The Boot Road in #Clondalkin is temporarily blocked following a roll over traffic collision.

The collision is near the hotel. "

The driver of the van escaped with no injuries and the scene was handed over to Gardaí.

A spokeswoman for Dublin City Council said: "At 1200 hrs today two units of Dublin Fire Brigade responded to reports of a road traffic collision on the Boot Road in Clondalkin.

"On arrival firefighter/paramedics from Tallaght fire station found one vehicle which had been involved in a roll over collision.

"The scene was handed over to An Garda Siochana at approximately 12:45 hrs."

A spokesman for An Garda Síochána said: "Gardaí attended a single van collision that occurred on the Green Isle Road, Clondalkin, shortly after 12pm today.

"No persons required medical treatment at the scene."
