Driver has lucky escape after car flips onto its roof in Wigan crash

A driver has made an incredibly lucky escape after his car flipped onto its roof during a crash in Wigan.

Officers were called out to reports of a crash on Lockett Road, Ashton-in-Makerfield, at 8.22pm on Saturday night (May 1).

Greater Manchester Police told the Manchester Evening News that the crash involved just the one vehicle which was pictured on its roof - a red Ford Fiesta.

Remarkably, the male driver has escaped the crash with no serious injuries and was not taken to hospital, despite how serious the incident looks.

Officers from GMP Wigan shared the image of the battered Ford Fiesta, which is believed to be more than 20 years old, on social media following the collision.

The front end of the car appears to be completely wrecked after the crash, while a wingmirror has come off the side of the vehicle and an airbag can be seen deployed through the window.

Two officers are shown inspecting the wreckage, which was near to the Stagecoach Wigan bus depot on Lockett Lane.

No arrests have been made following the incident on Saturday night, GMP has confirmed to the M.E.N.

In a post shared on social media late on Saturday night, police in Wigan suggested that the collision had been down to a 'lack of talent'.

A GMP Wigan spokesperson said: "Lockett Road, Ashton in Makerfield.

"Thankfully no serious injuries, just a display of lack of talent.

"Vehicle now recovered."
