Driver had petrol thrown on him and threatened to be set on fire - police are urging a man to hand himself in

Police are urging a man from Wigan to hand himself in after a driver was threatened with being set on fire after having petrol thrown on him.

The terrifying incident happened in Glebe Road, Skelmersdale, on July 23.

The victim was in his car when petrol was poured on him through the window before he was then threatened with being set alight.

Officers in Lancashire say they want to speak to Curtis Fox, 24, from Abram, in Wigan, in connection with what happened.

They also want to speak to him in connection with offences of threats to kill, assault, criminal damage, driving without insurance and unauthorised taking of a motor vehicle.

Fox is described as being of medium build with cropped dark hair.

As well as Wigan, he also has links to Skelmersdale.

Officers have released an image of Fox as they appeal to the public for information of his whereabouts.

Insp Ellie Kanoun from Lancashire Police said: “If you have seen Fox and know where he is please let us know.

"I would also urge Fox to do the right thing and hand himself in at the nearest police station.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting log 0645 of July 23rd or email 1113@lancashire.pnn.police.uk. For immediate sightings call 999.
