Driver given fixed penalty notice after hitting woman at zebra crossing

A driver was given a fixed penalty notice after hitting a woman while she was using a zebra crossing.

Dash cam footage, filmed by a driving instructor, shows a car initially stopping to let her walk across.

However, she is then struck by a car coming in the opposite direction, Lancs Live reports.

Police have confirmed the woman suffered only minor injuries and was assisted by other drivers at the scene.

The driving instructor, who witnessed the collision in Rawtenstall but wished to remain anonymous, said:  “I’ve never seen that happen before. I never thought there would be an impact - I was shaken up.
