Driver gets 4x4 stuck on sandbank after 'ignoring repeated warnings' from wardens

A 4x4 got stuck in a sandbank after the driver reportedly ignored repeated warnings he was parked in a dangerous area.

The motorist parked his cark at Black Rock Sands beach in Gwynedd, North Wales when he suddenly got caught out by the tide - as North Wales Live Reports.

Beachgoers watched as the driver tried to make a quick getaway when he realised the tide was starting to come in at an alarming rate.

The footage, taken by Ed Williams on Thursday, shows the driver turn the car towards the waves in an attempt to stop the vehicle from tipping over.

The driver stops the car before driving it straight in to the sea where it begins to float. After trying to make an escape, the motorist then makes a dash back to the vehicle to grab some of his belongings.

Mr Williams, who owns a caravan on a site in Morfa Bychan, said the driver was parked in an incredibly dangerous spot.

He said: "He was offered help and advice before he went for it on his own accord."

Mr Williams added: "There are lots of signs warning people of soft sand but some 4x4s take it upon themselves to risk it.

"It was a rebound spot for the tide coming around you.

"It's usually swimmers that get caught out on this particular sandbank.

"He was told to move but left it too late.

"Then he was advised to abandon it but he took it upon himself to try and get across but it didn't work.

"The beach wardens are doing a great job considering how busy it is and they were the ones that were advising the driver."

When Mr Williams returned at around 11pm the car was almost completely submerged.
