Driver fumes at pregnant woman for eating in her car as she 'hogs' parking spot

It can be stressful when you have to rush from one place to another and you have a lot on throughout the day, you can barely have a minute just to enjoy some lunch. But one pregnant woman has faced a huge backlash from another driver after she decided to eat a sandwich in her parked car in a car park which had run out of free spaces.

The woman had been hungry after her appointment which had only lasted ten minutes, so she decided to buy a sandwich to eat in her car as she had over 45 minutes left in the free parking spot.

However, while enjoying her sandwich another driver approached her car, knocked on the window and told her she was selfish for using the parking spot to eat when there were no free spaces. But the woman does not think she did anything wrong.

Taking to the 'Am I Being Unreasonable?' forum on Mumsnet, the woman, who remained anonymous, explained: "I have several appointments today so I'm somewhat rushing around, with a couple of gaps.

"I drove to one appointment (in town centre, no dedicated parking for the place I'm going to) and parked in a town centre car park.

"The car park has a number of spaces that are free for one hour, so I used one of those."

She went onto explain that her appointment had not lasted as long as she thought so she went to get herself some lunch before getting to her next task.

She said: "While eating a woman knocked on my window. I opened the door and she asked me to move.

"I looked around and there were no more free spaces, and she was waiting for mine. I apologised and said I'd be done in a minute.

"She then said "absolutely ridiculous. I said, "pardon?" and she ranted at me for a minute or two, the gist being that I'm selfish and entitled. I didn't say anything, just gave her a look and shut the door on her, and then I left. I was sitting in the car for maybe ten minutes max."

Altogether, she had only been using the space for 25 minutes so did not see how she was doing anything wrong.

In response, many agreed with her saying she should have stayed.

One person wrote: "You should have shut the door and carried on eating your sandwich."

Another stated: "Why on earth did you move? For all she knew you were waiting on someone/had just got there and were leaving your car shortly."
