Driver found with knife becomes first arrest of Download Festival 2019 - before it even begins

Police have made the first arrest of Download Festival 2019 - the weekend before it begins.

A white car was stopped and searched by security as it was driven onto the Donington Park site where the festival is held.

The occupant was found to have a knife, knuckle duster, handcuffs and lock picking equipment with him, LeicestershireLive reports.

The force’s Roads Policing Unit @LeicsPoliceRPU tweeted: “First prisoner of Download 2019!

“This car was stopped & searched coming onto the site by security.

“Occupant in possession of a lock knife, knuckle duster, lock picking equipment & handcuffs.

“Oh and he only had a provisional licence & no insurance!! Driver arrested & car seized! "

The three-day festival, dubbed the UK’s premier rock festival, which this year has, among others, Def Leppard, Slash, Whitesnake, Rob Zombie and Eagles of Death Metal performing, gets under way on Friday (June 14) until Sunday (June 16).
