Driver found 'slumped at the wheel' almost EIGHT times the drink-drive limit

A driver found 'slumped at the wheel' of his car was almost eight times the legal drink-drive limit.

Police said the man was found in his car on Great Bank Road in Westhoughton, Bolton.

They used a breathalyser machine to test for any alcohol in his system.

After blowing a reading of 276 at the roadside, the man was arrested and taken to hospital.

GMP Traffic tweeted a picture of a breathalyser machine in the early hours of this morning (Friday).

It showed a reading of 276 micrograms per 100 millilitres of breath - the legal limit is 35.

Alongside the picture, an officer wrote: "#XT18 assisted divisional officers with reports of a male slumped at the wheel on Great Bank Road. Westhoughton.

"Male blew 276 at the roadside!!

"Arrested and taken to hospital. #nonefortheroad."
