Driver flees the scene after car crashes into street light in Howth

A driver fled the scene after their car rammed into a streetlight in Howth last night.

Dublin Fire Brigade and advanced paramedics attended the scene after receiving a call but the car was abandoned, with significant damage done to the front of the vehicle.

Firefighters cleared the scene and ensured the affected streetlight wasn't hazardous.

Posting about the incident on social media, Dublin Fire Brigade said: "Firefighter/Advanced Paramedics were called to a road traffic collision in Howth overnight.

"No occupants were present on arrival and as the vehicle had hit a public lighting pole, the scene was made safe."
