Driver flees scene after car after plunges 15ft down embankment and flips onto roof in Paisley

A police probe is underway after a car was discovered abandoned after leaving the road and plunging down a 15ft embankment before flipping onto its roof in Paisley in the early hours of this morning.

The incident is believed to have happened around 2am (October 2) on Wenlock Road at Chapelhill Road in the Hunterhill area, Renfrewshire Live reports.

Locals alerted police to the abandoned white Vauxhall Corsa vehicle around 7:30am this morning, which was found overturned with the driver, passenger door and boot lying wide open.

No-one was in the vehicle when officers arrived at the scene.

The car was subsequently recovered from the grassy area and transported onto the back of a trailer for removal.

Police enquiries are ongoing.

A police spokeswoman said: "Around 7.35am on Saturday October 2, officers were called to a report of a car left overturned on Wenlock Road at Chapelhill Road in Paisley.

"No one was in the vehicle. Officers attended and enquiries are ongoing."
