Driver filmed ploughing through traffic light-controlled roadworks as lorry came other way

A driver was caught on camera nearly ploughing headlong into a lorry and a row of cars at a roadworks in Clydach .

In the film, a Citroën people carrier can be seen approaching the lights outside Mond Community Centre in Ynyspenllwch Road, from the direction of High Street, Clydach. The mini-roundabout there has been reduced to a single lane.

Despite the lights changing green and a lorry and other waiting cars moving through the single lane section, the people carrier still comes from the other direction.

Several vehicles are forced over or to slam on their brakes.

After narrowly missing a lorry, the car carries on past the traffic lights and briefly mounts the kerb before the car is seen lurching forward and speeding in the direction of Glais.

The footage was captured shortly after midday on Wednesday, December 19, by the dashcam of delivery driver, Craig Davies.

Mr Davies, from Pontardawe , works in the area between Morriston and Rhos and said he "wouldn't feel safe" doing his job without a dashcam to record other drivers.

"I see so much bad driving, it’s surprising. People on phones, not stopping at roundabouts, illegal parking causing obstructions.

"If you spent a day driving around the area I guarantee you will see all of the above each and every day."

He added: "To be honest, if you asked me when I first started my job I would have been completely shocked, but now it’s just a regular occurrence."

South Wales Police were not contacted about the incident.
