Driver escapes serious injury after smashing into tree

The driver of a car which crashed into a tree in Tameside escaped without serious injury.

Police were called to Huddersfield Road in Stalybridge this evening after the crash.

GMP said no serious injuries were reported. No arrests have been made.

Firefighters and police were seen to be in attendance, as the road was closed off in both directions between Buckton Vale Road and School Lane.

"At around 5.13pm this evening (29 October) police were called to a report of a one vehicle collision on Huddersfield Road, Stalybridge," a GMP spokesperson said.

"Emergency services are currently at the scene and initial enquiries have established that the vehicle collided with a tree.

"No serious injuries have been reported.

"No arrests have been made."
