Driver disqualified for eight years arrested after running red light in Dublin

A driver who was disqualified from driving for eight years was arrested after running a red light in Swords.

Santry gardai stopped the vehicle on Sunday and discovered that, not only was the driver disqualified, but the vehicle's tax had expired four years ago.

The motorist was arrested and their car was seized. They were charged for a court appearance.

In another incident, a driver was arrested after they failed a roadside alcohol breath test in Kill, Co Kildare.

The motorist was found to be four times over the legal limit. They were charged and are due to appear in court.

It was a busy week for Santry gardai who fined a motorist after they were spotted overtaking another car at speed in Balbriggan.

Officers who were conducting speed checks stopped the car and issued a fine.
