File photo

A motorist died after their rear-ending a semitrailer Monday morning on Route 59 in west suburban Naperville.

The driver of a northbound Ford Fusion hit the rear of a semitrailer about 10:30 a.m. near 103rd Street, Naperville police said in a statement.

The driver of the Ford was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The Will County coroner’s office hasn’t released the person’s name.

The semi driver was treated at a hospital for minor injuries.

No charges or citations were issued, police said.

While police investigated the crash, a separate crash between a car and school bus happened in the southbound lanes of Route 59 near 103rd Street, police said. The bus wasn’t carrying students and no one was hurt.

The intersection of Route 59 and 103rd was closed for several hours while authorities investigated the crashes.
