Driver dies in crash while fleeing deputy in Aurora

A driver of a white Mercury SUV was killed June 10 after fleeting from a traffic stop.

A driver died in a crash Monday after fleeing a traffic stop in west suburban Aurora.

The driver of a Mercury SUV allegedly took off from a Kane County sheriff’s deputy about 8:15 p.m. near Mountain Street and Farnsworth Avenue, the Kane County state’s attorney’s office said in a statement.

The driver fled northbound, jumped a median and crashed head-on into a Jeep, prosecutors said.

The driver of the SUV was ejected from their vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, the state’s attorney’s office said. Their identity has not been released.

The driver of the other vehicle was treated at a hospital for their injuries.

Investigations are being conducted by the Aurora Police Department, the Kane County Major crimes and Officer Involved Death Task Force.
