Firefighters cut free a driver who became trapped in her car following a crash on Whitehall Road.

Emergency crews were called around 1:23pm today (April 18) following a two-car smash.

She was then taken to hospital by South Western Ambulance services with injuries which are believed to be minor.

A spokesman for Avon Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called 1:23pm to a road traffic collision involving two cars.

"A driver had to be realised using hydraulic cutting equipment.

"I understand their injuries were minor. The driver in the other vehicle was not injured.

"I would like to remind drivers that this is a busy time of year on the roads and at the moment the sun is very low. Motorists should therefore limit their speed accordingly."

A spokesperson for the ambulance service said: "We were called at 1.17pm, and a female patient was taken by ambulance to hospital for treatment."
