Driver crashes into several parked cars in one of three Boxing Day 'drink driving' incidents

Three arrests have been made in the Ards and North Down area for 'drink driving' over the past 24 hours.

PSNI say in the first incident in Bangor on Boxing Day, a driver allegedly crashed into several parked cars, with it being a "miracle" that no one was seriously injured.

In a second incident in the town which also happened on Sunday, December 26, police say serious damage was caused.

A third arrest was then made during the early hours of Monday morning, December 27.

A Police Ards & North Down Facebook post read: "So that’s the 3rd arrest for drink driving this evening and a total of 5 people now in custody for various other matters.

"This last arrest was for 'Driving whilst unfit'. That means the standard of driving is so bad that police officers do not need to use a preliminary breath test device as the offence is so obvious.

"Quite a night shift for D Section with 34 calls to deal with, some fairly minor but some quite serious. Plenty of tired officers heading of shift soon and getting some sleep to come back and do it all again in a few hours.

"If heading out this morning drive carefully as some really bad fog about in places."

An earlier post said: "Second arrest for drink driving this evening where serious damage caused. Previous one in Bangor had crashed into several parked cars and miracle nobody seriously injured in this one.

"An individual in custody for the Bangor one and another individual on their way for this one. Huge thanks to all the members of public who helped out in both them."
