Driver crashes into same police car twice in botched getaway bid

A driver crashed into the same police car twice in a botched getaway bid.

The extraordinary scenes took place in Birkenhead last night.

The driver refused to stop for police and smashed his vehicle into a parked police car as he tried to flee the scene in Grange Road West.

And as police have chase the driver headed back down the same street and again hit the same parked police vehicle.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "Officers attempted to stop and speak to the driver of a Toyota car on Grange Road West in Birkenhead at around 8.30pm last night, Wednesday, March 10.

"As the Toyota left the scene it was in collision with a parked police car. It was followed by officers before returning to Grange Road West where it was once again in collision with the police car."

Police today confirmed a 47-year-old Wirral man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

The man was arrested on suspicion of two attempted assault allegations, dangerous driving, criminal damage to a motor vehicle, failure to stop and failure to provide a breath sample.
