Driver clocked going at 113mph on A1 in East Lothian as police continue roads crackdown

A driver has been clocked doing 113mph on the A1 in East Lothian.

Roads policing officers from Dunbar carried out a day of speed enforcement on the busy route on Wednesday (23 December).

And they caught one driver going at more than 40mph faster than the 70mph limit. They say the driver was cautioned and charged as a result.

Teams from Road Policing Scotland said: "Dunbar Roads Police carried out speed enforcement on the A1 near Haddington. One motorist was detected driving at 113mph within a 70mph zone. They were cautioned and charged and will be reported to the procurator fiscal."

Edinburgh Live reported this week how police would be carrying out extra patrols on the roads throughout the festive period.

Officers said they'd be clamping down on drink drivers, adding: "Over the festive period, we'll have additional Road Policing patrols deployed throughout Edinburgh to watch out for drink drivers.

"If you are caught, you will be arrested, you will lose your license and you may end up spending your Christmas with us."
