Driver clocked doing 136mph on motorway tells police he was on his way to buy burger

An uninsured driver caught doing a 136ph on a motorway told officers his cross-country law-breaking was for a burger.

Revealing to be quite the McNugget, the unnamed motorist said he was making the 42-mile trip from Bolton, Greater Manchester, to Bradford, West Yorks, to buy the fast food.

It came as McDonald's outlets across the country were opening their drive-thrus, now lockdown restrictions are beginning to ease, reports the Birmingham Mail.

He was stopped on the M62 by officers in Huddersfield who clocked him driving at 136mph - 66mph above the speed limit.

When interviewed by police on Tuesday, it turned out he didn't have insurance to be driving the car either.

Officers from the WYP Roads Polcing Unit tweeted: "Seized in Huddersfield for no insurance after caught travelling at 136mph on the M62.

"Driver on his way from Bolton to Bradford for a burger.

"Believed he was using third-party cover, found not to be the case."

The driver has been reported to court.
