Driver clocked at nearly 50mph in a 30mph zone in Nottingham by police

A driver was clocked at speeds of 50mph in a 30mph limit road in Nottingham. Police said they recorded the vehicle travelling at 48mph during a speeding operation in Sneinton on Thursday, August 4.

During the operation, which saw police check the speed of vehicles in Colwick Road and Cardale Road, drivers were also clocked at 39 and 38mph. Six motorists were issued with tickets.

A driver not wearing a seat belt and a motorist using a mobile phone while driving were also stopped. Police Constable Adam Smith, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We regularly receive information from local residents about the wide range of issues that affect their lives and will always do our best to tackle issues that are most important to them and causing them concern.

“Speeding is an issue that residents are understandably concerned about, and we would like to reassure the people of Sneinton and Nottingham south that we regularly undertake speeding operations throughout the area.

“The result of this operation shows how important it is that we carry out action days like this to combat those who speed on our roads, don’t wear seat belts and use mobile phones while at the wheel, placing not only themselves but the public at risk.”
