A suspected drunk driver has been arrested after police spiked the tyres of his BMW seconds after he allegedly urinated out of his car from the driver's seat during a pursuit through Adelaide's north-eastern suburbs.
At 4:45am, officers in a police car unsuccessfully tried to stop the man's BMW on Morphett Street in the Adelaide CBD.
Officers followed the car through North Adelaide and Walkerville then north along Payneham Road to Lower North East Road.
They allege the driver slowed down and stopped several times, before driving through several red lights.
Police tried to stop the BMW with road spikes at St Agnes, but the driver veered on to the wrong side of Hancock Road to avoid them.
Officers had a second opportunity to deploy the spikes when the BMW slowed to a crawl on McIntyre Road and the driver allegedly urinated out of the car from the driver's seat.
This time, the BMW hit the spikes and spun out, hitting a bus stop.
Police arrested a 24–year–old man from Andrews Farm.
He has been charged with driving dangerously to evade police, driving with a suspended licence, driving an unregistered and uninsured car and failing to truly answer.
The man was also issued with a $140 fine for urinating in a public place.
He will appear in court next month.
