A man has been charged after he allegedly drove his car into a police officer to escape a speeding fine in Sydney's south-west.
The traffic patrol officer survived the impact after jumping and being flung over the car, which sped towards him as he was conducting speeding stops in Greenacre last month, police said.
The senior constable was flagging down the car, which police allege was travelling at 121 kilometres per hour in a 70kph zone on September 5.
The officer was taken to Concord Hospital and treated for soft-tissue injuries to his hands and legs, he was released 24 hours later.
A 22-year-old man was arrested at a home in Greystanes this morning.
He was charged with nine offences relating to the hit and run including using an offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention and negligent driving.
The man was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday.
His licence has been suspended.
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian condemned the incident.
"You cannot get away with doing something like that, no matter who it is, but especially if it's police men and women who put their lives on the line for us," she said.
"I just want to congratulate the police for identifying that individual and we'll let the legal system take care of that."
