Driver caught using phone after forgetting to turn flash off while taking photo of garda car in Kildare

A driver was caught red-handed by gardai while using his mobile phone in the most bizarre of circumstances on Wednesday.

Gardai claim that the man - who was driving behind a roads policing unit vehicle - was 'frustrated' at being forced to stick to the speed limit while passing a section of road works on the M7 in Co Kildare.

It is claimed that the driver attempted to take a photograph of the garda car that was in front of him, but forgot to turn off the flash on his phone.

This alerted the officers to the fact that the man was illegally using his mobile while driving and he was pulled over before receiving a fixed charge penalty notice for his troubles.

In a tweet, gardai said: "Driver annoyed at being kept at speed limit in r/works on M7 by Naas RPU decided to photograph same while driving behind it.

"Oh! & forgot to turn off flash on camera phone. FCPN issued for using m/phone while driving .

"Doubt if his pic will get any shares or likes!!"
