Driver 'blinded by the sun' crashes into signal post

A driver who was 'blinded by the sun' crashed into a crossing signal post in Bristol.

A crew from Kingswood Fire Station was called to the incident in Poplar Road in Speedwell yesterday (March 2) at 5.20pm.

The fire station tweeted:  "Crews just attended an road traffic collision.. the driver was blinded by the sun fortunately he wasn't injured."

A spokesperson for Avon Fire and Rescue said: "At 17.21pm, one crew from Kingswood fire station was mobilised to reports of a road traffic collision on Poplar Road in Speedwell.

"On arrival, crews found a car had collided with a lamppost and made the scene safe. Police were also in attendance."
