Driver arrested twice in six hours as many more detained by Gardai in one Irish town

Gardai made a slew of drink and drug driving arrests in one Irish town in the space of just 24 hours this week.

A total of five arrests were made in Mallow Co. Cork alone as Gardai aimed to crack down on dangerous drivers throughout the Christmas period.

On top of this, one of the drivers who was detected for drink/ drug driving was arrested twice in the space of just six hours.

In an update on social media Gardai said: "Over the last 24hrs, Gardaí in Mallow made 5 detections for drink/drug driving.

"Two of these detections were for the one driver who was arrested twice over 6hrs.

"Over xmas we will be focusing even more on saving lives on the roads."
