A Hyundai i30 driver had an evening to forget after they were detained for drug-driving and the vehicle was seized.
The incident happened in the late hours of Saturday evening (January 1) on Liverpool Road, Eccles, when Greater Manchester Police pulled over the suspect for having no insurance.
The vehicle was seized as a result of not having insurance, however, the driver then failed a roadside drugs test for cocaine. The suspect was arrested at the scene.
According to gov.uk, police can give you a fixed fine of £300 and six penalty points if you are caught driving without insurance.
If the case goes to court, this can be increased to an unlimited fine and/or be disqualified from driving.
Police also have power to seize or, in some cases, destroy the vehicle if the person is not insured.
Possession of Class A drugs - such as cocaine, heroin, and methadone - can carry up to seven years in prison, an unlimited fine or both, according to gov.uk.
Supply and production for Class A drugs can result in life imprisonment, an unlimited fine or both.
