A man in his 80s died after being hit by a Ford Fiesta.
Just before 10.15pm last night police received a report that a man in his 80s had been hit by a Black Ford Fiesta Zetec on South Road, Waterloo. Emergency services attended the scene and the man was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Enquiries are ongoing to inform the man's family. An 18 year old man from Walton was later arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving and drug driving.

Witnesses reported seeing the incident happen outside Parnells cafe and sports bar, near a bus stop on South Road. The road was closed as police investigated, though it has since been reopened.
A police investigation is currently underway and anyone with any information is urged to contact police.
