Driver arrested after delivering positive drugs test and being in possession of cannabis

A driver has been arrested after delivering a positive drug test and found to be in possession of cannabis.

Pembrokeshire Roads Policing tweeted at 10.16pm on Saturday that the man had been released under investigation for the alleged offences in west Wales.

It said: "Male arrested in Pentlepoir, for providing a positive drug wipe & possession of cannabis.

"He has since been RUI’d for both offences, pending analysis of his blood samples. His passenger was also dealt with, by means of an out of court disposal, for cannabis possession."

According to road safety charity Brake, drivers who are convicted of drug-driving will receive a suspension of a minimum of 12 months from driving, a criminal record, an unlimited fine and potentially up to six months in prison.

Brake also say that drug-driving is a factor in more than one in 20 fatal crashes in the UK.
