Driver arrested after car hits two people outside Rhondda nightclub

A driver has been arrested after two pedestrians were hit by a car outside a nightclub.

South Wales Police were called to the crash outside The Banc night club on Llewellyn Street, Pentre, at about 1.30am on Sunday.

Two pedestrians were seriously injured and are being treated in hospital.

Officers said a white Citroen Berlingo collided with the two people in the early hours of the morning.

The 30-year-old male driver was arrested at the scene.

The carriageway was closed for several hours while police carried out investigation work.

In a statement, a South Wales Police spokeswoman said: "Officers wish to thank members of the local community for their patience and understanding during the road closure.

"South Wales Police would like to speak with any witnesses to the collision, any person who may have dash cam footage of the incident, any person who may have left the area without giving information to Police or anyone who witnessed the manner of driving of the Citroen Berlingo prior to the collision."

Any witnesses to the incident have been asked to contact police on 101 quoting occurrence number 1900207321.
