Driver and passenger try and flee after police chase - they didn't get far

A driver has been arrested for a string of offences following a police chase.

Traffic officers from Greater Manchester Police spotted the blue Ford Mondeo driving through Bolton in the early hours of this morning (Saturday July 18).

Despite asking the driver to stop, the car sped off but failed to lose the patrol, according to a spokesman for GMP Traffic.

The driver and passenger then allegedly attempted to run away on foot but were caught "very quickly".

Police arrested the driver of the car on suspicion of a string of driving offences including dangerous driving, failing to stop, no licence, no insurance and failing to provide a specimen.

The driver was also arrested on suspicion of burglary, although police did not confirm which incident this was in relation to.

A spokesman for GMP traffic tweeted: "This vehicle failed to stop for XT18 in Bolton.

"After failing to shake off our patrol both occupants tried their luck on foot but were detained very quickly.

"Driver arrested for dangerous drive, fail to stop, no licence, no insurance, fail to provide a specimen and burglary."
